I am a Jazz tenor saxophonist with a background in orchestral tenor saxophone, alto saxophone and clarinet. I also double in flute, EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument), soprano sax, and baritone sax. I have recently completed two Bachelor’s degrees from California State University Long Beach. One degree was in Music Performance with an option in Jazz Studies. The other was in Music Composition. At CSULB, I performed in numerous ensembles, like the CSULB Jazz Orchestra, the Studio Jazz Band, the Wind Symphony, the Symphonic Band, numerous Jazz combos, the Saxophone Ensemble, the University Saxophone Quartet and Quintet, the Studio Orchestra, many small chamber ensembles, Music Theatre groups, and much more. I’ve performed in the prestigious Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival, the California Music Educators Association Conference in Sacramento, the Colorado Music Educators Association Conference in Colorado Springs, and numerous private venues and functions. As a composer, I worked on a score to a Video Game, wrote a piece for Wind Symphony, an extended duet for Clarinet and Cello, a Percussion Quartet piece, a Tenor Saxophone solo piece with tape accompaniment, several electronic pieces, and numerous Jazz combo pieces, all of which were performed and/or recorded.
In High School, I was Lead Tenor in the Etiwanda Jazz 1 Ensemble and performed in numerous venues, including the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and the Vienne Jazz Festival in France. In California, the Etiwanda Big Band performed in the RCC, Valencia, and Irvine Jazz Festivals (among several others) and winning several awards. I played 1st Chair Tenor Saxophone in the 2005 All-State Honor Band of California. I’ve also gone to the Stanford Jazz Workshop as well as the Idyllwild Arts Jazz Camp. I’ve performed with professionals like Gary Foster, Tom Kubis, Bob Sheppard, Brandon Fields, Allen Carter and Chuck Findley. I’ve been taught by Artists like Dr. Bruce Eskovitz, Dr. Doug Masek, Jay Mason, Jeff Jarvis, Charlie Richard and Gerhard Guter. On the composition front, I've studied with John Mackey, Dr. Carolyn Bremer, Dr. Robin Cox, Perry La Marca, and Dr. Alan Shockley.
